It did not take a lot of prodding to get people in Arnprior on board with a mission to help three young cancer patients.
Organizer Brenda James says this Saturday’s Bright Futures Benefit Dance will bring friends and neighbours from across the community to the parish hall on Albert Street in support of a trio of local children who had up to this point been looking for help funding their treatments through online appeals.
She adds that the community has been incredibly eager to jump on the chance to help since she first put the idea out to the community, with local fan favourites like Cohen Lauzon and the band Silas donating their time to provide the live entertainment that evening, as well as Arnprior Packers owner Dustin Dorken providing a number of big-ticket prizes like season tickets and a golf package with Loch March Golf Club in Kanata.
The night will also feature other prize draws and auctions, as well as a split-the-pot raffle and mini-golf challenge, a cash bar, and a taco bar provided by Sandee’s Country Kitchen.
James says the hope for the weekend is to draw people in for a family-friendly event that will give the community something to pair with their usual Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday.
Doors at the Parish Hall will open this Saturday, October 11th, at 5:00 pm, with the public welcome to drop in for all the festivities by donation.
