Six health care providers in the Ottawa Valley are in line for a major cash injection through the province.
The Ontario government has announced a combined $4.15 million investment supporting hospitals in Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke, and Deep River, as well as MacKay Manor and Beachburg’s ConnectWell Community Health Centre, as part of a broader $257 million fund supporting critical infrastructure upgrades through the Health and Community Infrastructure Renewal Funds.
Minister of Health Sylvia Jones says the two programs will “enable people across Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke to connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” while local M.P.P. Billy Denault adds that “strengthening our local hospitals ensures these vital care hubs can continue delivering the best-in-class services our residents need and deserve.”
Sabine Mersmann, President & CEO, Pembroke Regional Hospital, is grateful to receive the funding, noting that the funding will be put to good use as they repair and renew patient-facing infrastructure while also keeping operations going and patients and staff safe.
The province is expected to invest nearly $60 billion in major health infrastructure over the next ten years as part of their goal to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver around 3,000 new hospital beds throughout the region.
Here’s how that money is expected to be split among the Ottawa Valley:
- Arnprior Regional Health; $396,720
- Deep River and District Health; $572,778
- Pembroke Regional Hospital Inc; $2,411,597
- Renfrew Victoria Hospital; $679,356
- ConnectWell Community Health; $34,870
- MacKay Manor; $59,679
