
OPP report that an arrest has been made in a recent serious sexual assault case in Renfrew.
On Thursday, August 28th a woman advised that she had been held against her will and sexually assaulted by a man armed with a handgun.
The male was known to her.
A massive search was undertaken, but the individual eluded local detachment officers, members of the OPP Emergency Response and Tactics and Rescue Units as well as a canine unit.
Police issued a shelter-in-place order until it was confirmed the suspect had left the area.
On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the 28-year-old male was located and arrested by Ottawa Police and was transported to the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. There he was officially charged with 12 criminal counts relating to the incident as well as two failure to comply infractions.
His name is not being released to protect the victim, and he remains in custody pending continuance of a bail hearing on September 26th.
