As the gates to the Renfrew Fair opened on Thursday, their comrades across the Ottawa River were wishing them a wonderful weekend.
The Pontiac Agricultural Society is celebrating what was a banner year for the Shawville Fair over the Labour Day long weekend, which welcomed over 55,000 people to town for what General Manager Mavis Hanna says was close to a record-breaking attendance.
Hanna says all five days of the fair went extremely well, wowing guests with everything from their celebration of all things Canada with friends from Garrison Petawawa and Glass Tiger on Friday to the showstopper demolition derby that capped off the fun on Labour Day Monday.
She adds that the fair would not be possible without the strong ties to the community and the effort everyone puts in to making it a spectacle each year, crediting the many volunteers and exhibitors who worked hard to keep its ties to local agriculture stronger than ever.
Hanna sends her well wishes to Renfrew’s Agricultural Society as they become the focal point of the Ottawa Valley’s fair season this weekend.
