Garrison Petawawa has had to deal with a peculiar situation as a massive training operation took over the base on the weekend.
Canadian Armed Forces officials say personnel at the Garrison were called on to neutralize an unexploded ordnance located in their training area within the Mattawa Plains on Friday, August 15th.
They note that members of the Garrison are highly trained in handling such devices and that the activity would be carried out with “utmost professionalism and adherence to safety protocols.”
Around 1,500 soldiers from across southern Ontario were expected to make their way to Garrison Petawawa this weekend for a two-week training mission.
