Local police got a chance to connect with the community through a leisurely cast of a fishing line.
Officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP hosted their annual Kids, Cops, and Canadian Tire Fishing Derby earlier this month, joining 84 young anglers from across the north part of Renfrew County along the Pembroke Waterfront.
The catch and release derby, which was sponsored by Fishing Forever and supported by several community partners, is intended to promote outdoor recreation and positive youth engagement.
It’s the second fishing derby held by local police this summer, as the Renfrew OPP welcomed dozens of kids to Cobden’s Muskrat Lake in July.
