A long-distance training mission will take around 1,500 soldiers through the Ottawa Valley later this week.
Canadian Army Reserve personnel from the 32nd and 33rd Canadian Brigade Groups will conduct transport and supply convoys along various pre-planned routes through Toronto, Peterborough, North Bay, Ottawa, and Petawawa this Friday, August 15th, and Saturday, August 16th.
Ottawa Valley residents can expect to see an increase in military traffic on Highway 17 as personnel make their way to Garrison Petawawa for Exercise Stalwart Guardian, a major end-of-summer training event featuring simulated combat operations as part of the Armed Forces’ mission for preparedness and readiness.
Members of the public are being asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles, both this week and when they return from the Garrison on the same routes on August 23rd and 24th.
