One year after losing a big part of its draw for the community, Renfrew’s Knights of Columbus Park is getting some attention.
Town officials have been given approval to establish a working group with the Renfrew Rotary Club to determine what can be done to improve the Sixth Street park, which Town Clerk Carolynn Errett says has seen its offerings to the nearby neighbourhood significantly reduced since last summer.
Errett explains that revitalizing the space is a priority set out by the town’s Parks & Recreation Master Plan, and having a formal working partner in Rotary eager to help with upgrades could inspire new features and attractions that couldn’t be added on municipal resources alone.
She adds that the options could grow as the working group potentially gets bigger depending on a few phone calls.
Renfrew’s Parks & Recreation Master Plan describes Knights of Columbus Park officially as a “neighbourhood park” intended to serve residents within an 800-meter radius by supporting both organized and unorganized leisure activities.
