The Town of Renfrew is continuing to streamline their policy manuals, specifically focusing on local drinking water.
Councillors passed a motion to rescind the Drinking Water Quality Management Standard Policy in the wake of other standards in place that cover what Manager of Environmental Services Amanda Springer points out is a vital part of the supply and distribution of local drinking water.
The town was the operator of the local drinking water system up until recently, but that responsibility has since been passed on to the Ontario Clean Water Agency, whose own policy on the matter makes the town’s redundant until further notice.
Township officials did offer to create a new policy that reflects OCWA’s operating capacity and the town’s commitment as the system owner, but council chose to just remove the outdated policy instead.
