Condolences continue to pour in from the world of local politics after the death of former Admaston/Bromley Mayor Raye-Anne Briscoe last week.
Speaking at Renfrew town council on Tuesday night, County Warden Peter Emon called Briscoe “a great friend for the town of Renfrew for many years” who frequently put effort into projects and ideas that showed she recognized her job to better the community often meant thinking beyond township limits.
Emon says that he and Briscoe were often close collaborators at both levels of municipal government, recalling what they jokingly called “the amalgamation wars” that saw Admaston and Bromley merge at the start of the millennium.
He also mentioned that the age of the virtual council session suited her well, as she faced mobility issues in her later years.
Emon closed his thoughts by adding that Briscoe’s passing is a sad time for everyone in the county but also a time to pause and reflect on what was accomplished with her help.
Both Emon and Renfrew Mayor Tom Sidney paid their respects at a celebration of life held in Briscoe’s honour at Trinity St. Andrew’s United Church in Renfrew earlier that day.
