The Downtown Renfrew BIA’s choice to merge a pair of new events into one weekly party outside Town Hall is proving to be an early success.
BIA Vice Chair Lorraine Vincent explains that their new Heart of Renfrew Market has already drawn attention from over thirty Renfrew-area businesses and vendors, providing everything handcrafted, homegrown, and locally produced in just three weeks of operation.
She adds that it’s a perfect match for their other fledgling project, Music in the Square, featuring entertainment from a fresh local talent each Friday evening.
Residents and visitors have the opportunity every Friday until the end of August to chat and buy from vendors offering everything from glass décor, wood workings, and jewellery to natural soaps and candles, spice and baking mixes, and even some Ukrainian-inspired treats to enjoy.
Vincent says that’s likely just the beginning.
She also considers developing and running events that draw attention to the community’s downtown core as a skill that fits perfectly in the BIA’s wheelhouse and expects both the market and the music to be a big draw as the summer rolls on.
The Heart of Renfrew Market gets underway along Railroad Avenue, next to Town Hall, every summer Friday starting at 4:30 pm, with their weekly Music in the Square festivities starting shortly afterwards at 5:00 pm.
