Calabogie United Church will be moving up an annual tradition to run this weekend.
Their annual fish fry is expected to bring the community to 1044 Madawaska Street in Calabogie this Saturday, July 19th, for a truly special treat prepared by a crack team of fish fryers making the trip in from Kingston to deliver top-quality fillets, according to church volunteer Dwyene MacNabb.
MacNabb says the fish fry is running ahead of time this year, as it usually happens in August. Regardless of the date, she notes the day should remain the perfect opportunity to connect with the community, especially as the event has evolved to allow people to dine in at the church following its pandemic origins as a take-out-only event.
Fish and chips will start being served from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Saturday, but MacNabb says not to gamble on waiting to get your crispy, golden-fried bounty at the church.
Guests can get one piece of fish and chips for $15 or two pieces for $20, with both coming with coleslaw, tartar sauce, homemade cake, and drinks.
