Canada’s weather agency says the Ottawa Valley will see a little relief today as their heat warning is expected to end.
Environment Canada explains that showers and thunderstorms this morning are expected to keep daytime temperatures relatively cooler in Renfrew County before a cooler air mass pushes into the region this evening.
Until then, they urge residents to continue drinking plenty of water, keep indoor spaces cool by keeping curtains and blinds closed, and check in regularly with friends and family at higher risk of being affected by extreme heat.
Watch for the early signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others, which can include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, and intense fatigue. If you or someone you know exhibits these symptoms, stop what you’re doing and drink water.
