Renfrew's swinging bridge in the spotlight thanks to a new lighting system added in early 2024
One of Renfrew County’s most memorable landmarks has been drawing the attention of people in the big city.
A recent article from online publication Toronto.com is touting the virtues of visiting Renfrew, highlighting the town’s swinging bridge over the Bonnechere River as a historical marvel dating back to the town’s milling heyday.
It describes the town as “bursting with history,” pointing to the annual Renfrew Fair, one of the oldest in Canada, as well as the many local artifacts preserved inside the McDougall Mill Museum next to the bridge, and the NHA/NHL birthplace.
The publication also suggests tourists coming in from the Toronto area check out the nearby Bonnechere Caves and Burnstown Beach, among other attractions.
