Communities across Renfrew County are being told to prioritize keeping cool as a heat wave continues to batter most of Southern Ontario.
Hot and humid conditions will continue for most of this week, featuring daytime highs between 31 and 35 degrees Celsius that will feel as warm as the low 40s with the humidity and little relief overnight.
Environment Canada reminds you that extreme heat can affect everyone’s health and suggests both limiting direct exposure to sun and heat as well as checking in regularly with older adults, those living alone, and others at risk to ensure they are coping with the conditions.
Keep your living space cool by closing blinds or shades and opening windows only if outside is cooler than inside. If your living space is too hot, move to a cool public space like a library, community centre, or shaded park.
Lastly, never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle, as temperatures inside can quickly cause harm or death.
