Pat McGregor
The old saying is that good things come in threes, but the latest fundraiser from Renfrew runner Pat McGregor is set to multiply that by ten.
McGregor is teaming up with Renfrew Victoria Hospital for the 30 for 30 Duathlon, a combined 30 kilometres on foot and by bike to honour 30 years of the hospital’s dialysis unit, which has become the central hub for kidney care for much of Renfrew County.
McGregor calls the cause a personal one, as her husband is currently working with RVH staff as he receives dialysis treatment at home.
She also points out that her $30,000 goal is easily obtainable if the population of 8,500 that Renfrew’s town signs claim all pitched in a little bit.
Preparation for the August 23rd journey has been going well as McGregor ramps up training for what will be a combination of a 5-kilometre run and a 25-kilometre bicycle ride that will likely take her through all sorts of terrain.
Donations are being accepted through the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation’s website ahead of the day of the run, with thousands already pledged in support of keeping local dialysis care close to home.
