A few Ottawa Valley communities could help shape the province’s understanding of a vital local resource for years to come.
The Renfrew County District Health Unit is urging residents with groundwater wells living near the Madawaska Highlands, just southeast of Algonquin Park, to participate in a project being held by the Ontario Geological Survey.
Interested residents living in and around Barry’s Bay, Killaloe, and Combermere are invited to fill out an online survey regarding their groundwater systems, after which the province will pick a handful of wells to take samples from for study.
The research is designed to help ministries, municipalities, public health, and other interested parties better understand how local geology affects water quality.
