Renfrew OPP officers will be helping children learn the joys of fishing this summer during the Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Derby on Saturday July 12, 2025.
Children will join local Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers to go fishing from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon along the shores of Muskrat Lake at the Cobden boat launch. Free for children to attend, the catch and release derby will feature various giveaways and prizes. Young anglers are asked to bring their own rods, reels, and bait as well as an adult buddy. Registration will take place along the shore, look for the OPP tent.
This event is supported by the Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting recreational fishing for all Canadians, and by the generous financial contribution of Canadian Tire.
It is also supported by Whitewater Township and through donations from local businesses.
