Airborne Petawawa will be joining drop zones around the world in celebrating World Skydiving Day on Saturday, July 12th, and the community is invited to be part of the excitement. Every jump made that day counts toward the world record!
World Skydiving Day is a global initiative where skydivers of all levels—from first-time tandem students, to licensed pros, come together to make as many jumps as possible in a single day and help set a new world record for the most skydives completed worldwide.
“Last year, we logged 36 jumps toward the 30,351 skydives recorded worldwide for the 2024 record, and even landed a feature on CTV News,” says Aria Vela, dropzone manager and lead tandem instructor at Airborne Petawawa. “This year, we’re hoping to go even bigger. It’s a unique opportunity to be part of something global, and to become a world record holder just by doing one jump!”
Airborne Petawawa will be open all day, welcoming first-time tandem jumpers, student skydivers working toward their license, and experienced fun jumpers. Spectators are encouraged to come out, watch the jumps, and cheer on friends and family right from the landing zone.
