Terrible news to pass along.
A 9-year-old boy from Mississippi Mills has died after being hit by a school bus while riding his bike in Almonte, in Lanark County.
It happened around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, near a local school on Paterson Street. The boy was a student at R. Tait Mackenzie Public School.
Witnesses rushed to help, performing life-saving measures before the boy was taken to hospital with critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead.
Lanark County OPP are investigating the crash with help from their Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigation teams.
Police have not said if there were other children on the bus at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have asked any witnesses to come forward and call the number above.
