Local police have provided an update on an incident that has gripped a community just southeast of Barry’s Bay.
The OPP say their investigation into what happened in Quadeville on Tuesday, June 24th, to leave a young child with potentially life-threatening injuries when officers responded to reports that a child had been found seriously harmed along Quadeville Road at around 12:30 a.m.
The child was transported to a local hospital and later to a regional trauma centre and is recovering from the injuries.
While investigators suspect this to have been an animal attack, further testing and analysis are required, and, as a precaution, parents in the Quadeville area should continue to keep their small children indoors or under close supervision.
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP’s Crime Unit is working on this case with the Ministry of Natural Resources with the help of the OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Emergency Response Team.
