A lot of hard work along the Bonnechere River will bear fruit for lovers of all things outdoors on Tuesday, July 1st.
The Town of Renfrew invites the public to start their Canada Day by joining them for the grand opening of the new Bonnechere River Trail as they cut the ribbon on a community-built project that will see volunteers cut more than a kilometre through part of Renfrew’s natural beauty when phase one wraps up this month, according to Manager of Environmental Services Amanda Springer.
The day gets started at 10:00 a.m. that morning with a short ceremony at the trailhead located at 390 Forestview Crescent before guests are taken on a guided walk along the Bonnechere that will wow hikers as they loop around two planned lookout spots that promise a glimpse of Renfrew that you’ve never seen before.
While the working group behind the trail has tried to make it as accessible as possible, Springer asks users to plan ahead and prepare themselves for a moderately difficult experience that will require you to mind your footing in some places for obstacles and foliage.
Also planned for the event are a variety of family-friendly activities like themed scavenger hunts and some light refreshments.
