This past April, Jason Hardwick was involved in a near fatal motorcycle crash and he is currently in recuperation in Ottawa.
In an effort to raise funds for Hardwick’s mounting medical expenses, members of a group called “Music Healing Veterans” has stepped up to organize an evening of music and cheer in honour of their Brother at Fitzy’s Sports Bar on Saturday June 21st.
Wilf Wityshyn, Financial manager of Music Healing Veterans Canada says that the extent of Hardwick’s injuries is not yet known but he is in need of immediate assistance:
Scott Duffy, Board Member of the organization and long time friend of Hardwick, describes his friends situation as “life changing” but he remains hopeful nevertheless.
A portion of the funds raised will go to Hardwicks wife who is travelling from Petawawa to Ottawa and back regularly while her husband continues to heal.
Music Healing Veterans was founded in 2018 as a grassroots organization who used music as a tool for overcoming PTSD and other related maladies unique to military men and women. Starting with only 12 local members the program has now grown to over 300 in various chapters.
Duffy says that the benefits to members are clearly visible and is always amazed at how quickly the difference can be seen when becoming involved:
The motto of the organization is “No Drama No Trauma” which Duffy says means that they are not a counselling service but a support group that uses the healing powers of music to help members continue living fruitful stable lives. One of the ways that the program is unique is how members get their start when they join up. Duffy explains:
A terrific lineup of musical entertainment has been organized for the event with a handful of local bands and musicians who are only too happy to lend a helping hand to a community member in need such as Hardwick. Come on out to Fitzy’s on Saturday June 21st and make a difference!
