Local Lions Club Walk for Dog Guides Ambassadors Bradyn Waterman and Innis
The Renfrew Lions Club is confident that a 20-year lay-off will not hold back the first running of their signature event in over twenty years.
Their Walk for Dog Guides makes its triumphant return on Sunday, June 8th, with the goal of raising awareness about the work and dedication that goes into training service dogs for a variety of specialized needs while also making a big enough splash to fully support the skill development and training required to make it a reality.
Local ambassador Bradyn Waterman and his service dog, Innis, will lead the way starting at noon this Sunday, June 8th, as event co-chair Sarah Smeltzer goes over the finalized travel plan along one of Renfrew’s amazing natural landmarks.
Lions Chairperson Diana Laroque hopes the day will also be a chance for the community to learn about the importance of service dogs and how they work to help residents with everything from diabetes, hearing, seeing, autism, seizures, service, and more.
That includes an important reminder that even though most of the dogs taking part in Sunday’s walk will be on the clock with their owners.
The Lions Club has also secured a number of bonuses for the day, including a number of pooch-friendly vendors, plus a hot dog stand for lunch, and gift bags for the first 50 walkers to register at the starting line.
