Highway 17 in Petawawa remains closed at Paquette Road this morning (Thursday, June 5) following yesterday’s crash.
Upper Ottawa Valley media relations officer Shawn Peever tells myFM that one lane of the highway still requires repair and repaving due to the spill from Wednesday’s collision involving a pickup truck and a transport with two tanker-trailers carrying fuel,
Officials say the detour from the highway to Messer Trail, then Paquette Road back to Highway 17, remains in place for all traffic, including commercial motor vehicles.
Peever said temporary traffic signals have been requested so that one lane of the highway can be reopened and traffic will then alternate, controlled by the signals, but there is no timeline yet for the partial reopening.
OPP will provide updates on social media, he said.
