The Silver Chain Challenge is back this June, encouraging residents and visitors in Renfrew County to get active and enjoy the outdoors. This month-long event invites people of all ages to walk or bike and track their kilometres to support their county in a fun, friendly competition.
The Silver Chain Challenge promotes healthy living, active transportation, and community spirit. Participants can log their kilometres throughout the month and see real-time updates to see which county is in the lead. The county with the most distance logged by the end of June will be named the winner.
Renfrew County Warden Peter Emon encourages everyone to get involved. “You don’t have to be the fastest or go the farthest—just get out and enjoy your community while helping Renfrew County compete,” he said. Lanark County Warden Toby Randell is also excited about the challenge. “This is a great way to stay active, explore Lanark County, and strengthen our community,” he said.
Participants are invited to share their photos using hashtags like #RenfrewCounty, #LanarkCounty, and #SilverChainChallenge. Whether you’re walking with family, biking with friends, or exploring on your own, every kilometre counts.
The Silver Chain Challenge is open to everyone—families, individuals, and visitors. It’s a great way to enjoy the scenic trails, roads, and parks across eastern Ontario.
