Residents are advised that personnel from the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command will be conducting routine training in Renfrew County and the Pontiac Regional County Municipality in the coming days.
Affected areas include: Garrison Petawawa and surrounding area May 22 to 23; Portage-du-Fort and Chenaux Dam May 26 to 27; Cobden, Davidson, and Petawawa May 27 to 28; and Oiseau Rock / Migizi Kiishkaabikaan forest, including travel on the Ottawa River May 29 to 30.
During those periods, area residents may notice increased military and civilian vehicle traffic, small low-flying drones, and military personnel carrying firearms.
Residents may also hear noises associated with explosives and blank small arms fire at night.
Training will also involve the use of jets and military helicopters, which may be heard at greater distances from training locations.
Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions to the public and precautions will be taken to maintain public safety when required.
Canadian Special Operations Forces Command appreciates the continued support and understanding from residents and community members.
