Bonnechere Valley Fire Chief Darryl Wagner does not suspect foul play in a blaze that has kept crews busy early today.
Chief Wagner and his team were called to Eganville at around 5:00 am in response to smoke pouring from the basement of a 2-story home on Queen Street, closing the road at Veteran’s Way, Wellington Street, and Patrick Street as they discovered the home’s structure was on fire.
Crews from the North Algona Wilberforce Fire Department were sent shortly afterwards to assist with the situation.
One person was removed from the home, and no injuries have been reported.
Chief Wagner says the fire was active but contained as of around 10:00 am on Tuesday as traffic is being diverted towards Alice Street while crews stay on site.
