
A 23-year-old from Scarborough is facing charges after officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter in progress.
May 2, around 2:30 p.m., officers responded to the call for help at an occupied residence on Beckett View Drive in Laurentian Valley Township.
“Police arrested a man at the scene and determined the individual had driven to the location. As part of the investigation a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted, and further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer at the detachment. Police seized open alcohol and cannabis from the vehicle during the incident,” reads the release.
As a result of this incident, the 23-year-old charged with: break and enter; operation while impaired; failing to surrender licence; having care or control of vehicle with cannabis in open baggage; and having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
“The accused was released and is scheduled appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 27,” reads the release.
