We’ve come a long way when it comes to mental health, but we have a long way to go, says registered social worker Tanya Wojcik.
Living with mental health or substance use challenges can be hard enough and masking can make it even harder.
The theme of Mental Health Week 2025 is Unmasking Mental Health and Wojcik says it’s time to end the stigma.
Wojcik works out of Mental Care, which just recently moved into a new, larger location in Renfrew.
She has been in the social services field for more than 20 years, having worked as a child and youth care worker and also in child protection. Several years ago, after meeting Mental Care owner Johanna Baker, she decided private practice was something she was interested in.
What drew her to the mental health field?
For Wojcik, her work at Mental Care is about helping people be “the best versions of themselves.”
She encourages anyone interested in services – whether it’s mental health, substance use, learning new strategies, or navigating through some difficult times – to reach out.
Mental Care is at 7 Argyle St. South. Visit the website for more information or call 613-312-9608.
