Renfrew’s Junior A Wolves will have a special guest on hand as they wrap up their season over the weekend.
The Wolves are welcoming Diana Laroque and the Renfrew Lion’s Club to their final home game this Saturday night when they go up against the Ottawa Jr. Senators, hoping to reintroduce the club to their fans as they prepare for their signature Walk for Dog Guides on June 8th.
The partnership has been months in the making, as Laroque and club President James Johnston have been busy since the start of the new year reestablishing their charitable efforts within the community ahead of what has become one of the most recognizable Lion’s Club fundraisers across the Ottawa Valley and worldwide.
Fans heading to the game can learn more about the Club by visiting their booth in the main hallway before and during the action. Donations for their Walk for Dog Guides will also be welcome as they wrap up an ongoing auction to raise the crucial funds needed to train guides to help local patients manage diabetes, hearing and sight issues, autism, seizures, and other service needs.
The visit to the myFM Centre is also part of a crucial campaign to grow the local Lion’s Club’s numbers during what Laroque calls an increasingly uncertain time, especially in a region where people will be likely be reaching out to groups like theirs more regularly for assistance going forward.
Larqoue encourages the community to come out to the game on Saturday, have a fun experience, and show their support for both the Lion’s Club and the Wolves as both teams prepare to enter a time of sweeping change over the summer.
