A magical season for the Renfrew Timberwolves came to a devastating end in the final moments of Tuesday night’s do-or-die game against the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians.
Canadians forward William McCulligh silenced the 218 people watching the action inside the myFM Centre with a last second dagger to complete a 4-3 comeback win for Carleton Place that also secures their spot in the upcoming Richardson Division Final against the Richmond Royals
It’s a disappointing way for the division champions to bow out of the Barkley Cup playoffs, as they enjoyed a lead for much of the match thanks to tallies from Connor Jackson and William Herrick, who was named third star of the game for his two-goal performance. Goaltender Lucas Cardiff-Bilodeau was given second star honours for his 26 saves on 30 attempts.
The Timberwolves did have a season to be proud of despite the sour ending, including a franchise best in wins (30) and the emergence of several young local talents who could be fighting for a spot on the Jr. A Wolves this offseason.
