The Ottawa Valley is still shining with pride after watching one of their own make it to the big leagues.
Tye Felhaber, a proud native of Pembroke, made his NHL debut with the Colorado Avalanche on Monday against Vancouver.
The forward grew up playing hockey in the Ottawa Valley Titans AAA program before enjoying a short stint with the Pembroke Junior A Lumber Kings. Felhaber would continue to find success at the major junior level, leading the 2018-19 Ottawa 67’s with 109 points (59 goals, 50 assists) as the team made it to the OHL Finals.
Before joining the Avalanche, Felhaber had a standout career in the ECHL, earning 83 points (26 goals, 57 assists) in 71 games with the Idaho Steelheads, Orlando Solar Bears, and Fort Wayne Komets. He also gained recognition at the 2023 Warrior/ECHL All-Star Classic, winning the Accuracy Shooting contest with an impressive time of 6.5 seconds.
In addition to his ECHL success, Felhaber has played 187 AHL games, recording 67 points (33 goals, 34 assists) with teams including Colorado, Milwaukee, Texas, Syracuse, and Laval.
