Two drivers are facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) after a collision involving three vehicles in Petawawa.
Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the collision on November 7, 2024, at approximately 7:10 a.m. on Highway 17 at Doran Road.
Investigation found that an eastbound Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) on Highway 17 collided with an eastbound passenger vehicle that had just turned on to Highway 17 from Doran Road. A short time later an eastbound passenger vehicle on Highway 17 struck the rear of the CMV. The driver of the third vehicle involved was taken to hospital by paramedics with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The 21-year-old driver of the CMV from Delta, British Columbia, was charged with red light – fail to stop, under the HTA. The 28-year-old driver of the third vehicle involved from Chalk River, was charged with careless driving under the HTA.
