Renfrew County’s paramedic services say a serious car crash in Haley Station could have been worse.
Acting Deputy Chief Nick LeRiche credits his team and the work of their fellow first responders for the efficient handling of a four-vehicle crash involving a school bus, a transport truck, and two cars that closed Highway 17 near the corner of Chenaux Road for several hours on Wednesday morning.
LeRiche says there were injuries, but adds they were limited thanks to the bus not carrying children to school at the time.
First responders began an investigation into the cause of the crash that would last several hours, requiring traffic to be diverted away from the scene for a significant amount of time on Wednesday.
The OPP would send an update later that evening that one driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with unsafe move into a lane or shoulder.
