It looks like the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation are set to smash their expectations for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Executive Director Patti Dillabough says pledges for the Put Your Breast Foot Forward virtual walk are still trickling until the end of the week, but totals have already blown past their $10,000 goal thanks to some big names in the community getting behind the cause.
Dillabough says that, as of Monday, donations are closing in on $15,000 and beyond for the hospital’s mammography and oncology departments, marking a full month of support from breast health within our community.
October’s fundraising effort scored a massive assist by the Junior A Wolves and Junior B Timberwolves, who jumped on board for their own Pink the Rink fundraiser games at the myFM Centre near the end of the month.
It’s a partnership with Renfrew’s premiere sports teams that the RVH Foundation has been hoping to secure for some time.
The final tally for the Put Your Breast Foot Forward walk is expected to be announced at the end of the week, while an official cheque presentation for Pink the Rink will happen in the near future.
