Aside from the final score, it’s safe to say the new look Renfrew Wolves made the most out of their first game of the season with the hometown crowd at the myFM Centre.
Over 510 people paid their way into seeing the Renfrew Wolves cap off a hotly contested weekend series with Brockville on Saturday, bringing plenty of noise to the rink despite a 4-3 overtime loss.
Wolves General Manager Jerrett Defazio was thrilled to see the community come out in numbers, something he said made him envious as part of visiting teams in recent years.
The Wolves also played host to a number of prominent local groups and figures, including representatives from the Valley Warriors Hockey Program, whose Ethan Bourgeois joined Mayor Tom Sidney for the ceremonial puck drop. Also joining the crowd for the night were members from Renfrew Prep Basketball, who brought plenty of noise as they enjoyed a front row seat to the action.
On the ice, Defazio admits that there were some mistakes that kept them from sweeping both games against Brockville over the weekend, but he is confident that his team will continue to get better as they spend more time working together.
The Renfrew Wolves will get a few days to continue meshing as a unit before hitting the road to Hawkesbury on Friday, September 27th, for a game against former General Manager and Coach Ryan Leonard and his Hawks.
You can listen to the action as it happens with us on 96.1 myFM, starting with the pre-game show just before 7:30 p.m. that evening.
