There’s a new development in the saga of the loss of adjacent lands to the Gillies Grove Nature Reserve.
If you’ve been wondering why Arnprior Regional Health wouldn’t have been interested in the parcel, turns out they were- but only 15 acres of the 20 sold.
Might have made a good site for possible Hospital or Heath Care facility expansion?
That’s what the ARH Board thought, and began talks just a couple of months after the Oblates announced their intended withdrawal from the community in September of 2023.
Oliver Jacob, Chair of the Arnprior Regional Health (ARH) Board of Directors indicates that legal counsel, Galilee Board representatives and the Town of Arnprior were all involved in examining the feasibility of the idea.
ARH obtained two independent market appraisals, and split their offer down the middle in March of this year- hearing little from the Galilee Board after that point.
Jacob’s statement goes on to say, “ARH was surprised and disappointed to learn through a letter published on the Galilee Centre website on July 6th (2024) that the land had been sold to Cavanagh Communities.”
He continues, “While this was not the outcome we had hoped for, ARH remains committed to seeking out opportunities to support the future growth of healthcare services for the community.”
