Two people are facing multiple charges and an arrest warrant has been issued for a third following a weekend home invasion in Renfrew.
The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking to identify a fourth suspect and have released a photo of the individual appealing to the public for help.
Maged Kassis, 35, of Renfrew and Jenevieve Lemaire, 31, of Grand Calumet Island, have been charged with: robbery with violence; aggravated assault; forcible confinement; arson – damage to property; theft of a vehicle; theft under $5,000; and break and enter.
Kassis has additionally been charged with: assault a peace officer; and fail to comply with a probation order – two counts.
The charges have not been proven in court.
The incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 24, around 6 p.m. on Bonnechere Street South. Individuals broke into the home and assaulted the resident, who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The homeowner’s car was found on fire a short time later on Briscoe Road and two people were arrested, say police.
Both individuals have been remanded in custody until appearances later this week before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
It is believed this was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the general public.
