She had to slow down at the end, but Renfrew’s Pat McGregor still made good on her pledge to bring in big bucks for Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
McGregor set off on her tenth half-marathon over the weekend, setting the pace for the people who showed up to the myFM Centre’s walking track to support her all the way to the end of her 21-kilometre trek.
The 72-year-old runner also sends a special thank you to the town of Renfrew, who worked hard to ensure the new rubberized surface along the track was ready in time for McGregor’s planned run.
The $11,502 that McGregor brought in will go directly into the hospital’s Equip RVH campaign, supporting vital equipment purchases that keep high-quality care in the community.
While McGregor had previously considered this half marathon, the tenth she’s participated in, her last. However, the track’s new surface made it so easy on her hips and knees that she’s now suggesting that there could be an event to watch out for in the new year.
