Renfrew residents out and about with their dogs at the 2024 Dog Days of Summer event
The Downtown Renfrew BIA is wagging their tail at just how well the Dog Days of Summer went on Saturday.
BIA Chair Ben Oakes says the pet appreciation day was a hit, drawing in dozens of pet owners to enjoy pet-friendly sales and vendors in and around Low Square.
Some sudden showers would disperse the crowd for a short while during the event, but dozens of dog owners and their pooches still made their way to enjoy a day of shopping and play with the community in otherwise gorgeous weather.
Michelle, the owner of Wizard of Paws pet grooming and one of the sponsors of the event, says teaming up with the BIA to host Saturday’s fun was something she had been planning and waiting on for several months.
Meanwhile, the day may have also convinced the other sponsor of the event to choose downtown Renfrew as their place to set up shop.
Alex, with pRAWper Pet Treats, says it was a treat to work with the host BIA for the day, adding that it might not be the last time they collaborate on something big within the downtown core.
All three say that they are looking forward to running the Dog Days of Summer again next year.
They also thank the community for dropping by to enjoy the community barbeque, balloons, animals, and even participating in the afternoon’s dog show, all of which raised money for Valley Animal Rescue.
