When life handed 10-year-old Chase Beaudoin of Renfrew lemons, he really did make lemonade.
With summer stretched out before him, he and a friend were wondering how they could earn a little spending cash.
And so, several days each week, sometimes with a friend’s help but most often on his own, Chase has set up his stand at the end of his driveway on Lisgar Avenue.
And it’s gone well. As in all business ventures, some days are better than others.
First, he was saving for a new PS4 controller, which he got. Then it was a pet fish he had his eye on.
So now he’s just saving up and he said he plans to be out there a few more days this summer.
Come September when he goes back to Central Public School, he’ll likely take a break but he’s looking ahead to winter and said he might just experiment and expand his business to offer coffee and hot chocolate.
His mom Mom Jamie Landreau was at first skeptical.
“I thought no one does that anymore. But he was so excited and he’s had a few really good days. I’m super proud of him. He really works hard on it, he gets up and goes downtown to get all his ingredients,” she said.
Chase said he’s had plenty of positive feedback from his customers and that he wanted to give a shout out to one of his favourite new shops – The Juice Box.
