Renfrew’s myFM Centre added the first of what the town hopes are many splashes of colour to its walls ahead of the weekend.
Renfrew-based artist Patrick John Mills and a small crew of town staff installed his 2016 piece “The 5 Hearts” above the town’s new Recreation Department office over the course of last week after getting approval from Town Council back in June.
In his proposal to the town to permanently display the work, Mills explained that the 5′ by 30′ acrylic painting “creates a vibe that is abundant, vibrant, infinite, playful, and creative. It celebrates love and creativity.”
Mills has since taken to social media to thank the town and its residents, adding that he and partner Tanja Kisslinger have been warmly welcomed to the community since converting the old H. Imbleau & Sons Factory into their studio, the Art Factory.
He adds that they “have received such extraordinary acts of kindness, love, support, encouragement, and generosity from others. We felt it was most appropriate to donate something significant.”
Meanwhile, Town Council is interested in collaborating with other local artists as they continue to add to the newly expanded space within the arena.
