It’s not the same event it was when it owned its own fairgrounds in uptown Arnprior, and some of the terminology has changed with the profile. Stacy Howard explains the current moniker.
By whatever name, the annual attraction is one of the oldest in Ontario.
But the genealogy is important to the story of where the August event is being hosted this year.
Balmer Island, later Stewartville, is a neighbourhood in the former McNab Township.
Its Arnprior fairgrounds now a subdivision, the Valley Ag Festival found a temporary home at the Arnprior Airport- and now perhaps begins a new sojourn, more rooted in the soil of its origins.
Stacy Howard will join us with more on what’s planned- both for the one day fair, and the event’s 170th Anniversary, when we return tomorrow.
