Really Cool Initiatives is taking a lesson they learned last year to heart and putting the kids center stage in their upcoming performance.
The Renfrew-based theatre company will host their latest production, Matilda the Musical Jr, this August, and will rely on an eager cast of kids who Director Jennifer St. Michael says have missed out on many opportunities to act and perform while living under COVID-19.
St. Michael says the kids in the cast have been amazing to watch and work with, applauding their ability to remember lines, take direction, and commending them for showing no fear in rehearsals with just a little over a month away from the opening night.
She also encourages community members ages 5 and up considering interested in local theatre to see the show for themselves to get a feel for what RCI puts on and get in touch if they would like to try it themselves during their next production.
Matilda the Musical Jr. will run at Renfrew Collegiate Institute at 7:00 p.m. both August 22nd and 23rd, with a pair of 2:00 p.m. matinees on August 24th and 25th. Tickets are $15 and available at Aikenhead’s Pharmacy or at the door.
