Renfrew is very quickly becoming more than just a hockey town, much to the delight of coach Vicki Wilson.
The two-time All-Canadian at Queen’s University and her brother Jason, himself a champion coach with Renfrew Collegiate Institute, are ready for another round of their STARS Basketball Camp, July 15–19, inside the Renfrew Collegiate Institute gymnasium.
The camp welcomes boys and girls of all skill levels between the ages of 8 and 14 to experience a week of high-paced and dynamic training, skills development, and scrimmages that the Vicki hopes will instill a love for the game in their students while also teaching them to get creative with their play.
Vicki and Jason have had a long history of supporting local grassroots efforts to develop the sport of basketball in the Renfrew area, and she adds that it’s awesome to see the emergence of programs like Renfrew Prep Basketball and RCI’s recently announced slate of invitational tournaments to be held at the myFM Centre next school year.
Vicki notes that the program is all-inclusive and built on the foundation of fun, fair play, and positive attitudes, adding that you don’t need to be a superstar to enjoy yourself at the STARS camp.
Campers will be split into two groups, with ages 8 to 10 starting the day from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. before the age 10 to 14 group takes the court from noon to 3:00 p.m.
Registration is $125 per child, and space is limited. Save your spot by filling out this online form or by emailing vickiwilson@gmail.com.
