A dedication ceremony will be held Tuesday for Mack Wilson Memorial Park in the Hunter Gate subdivision.
He made an indelible impact on the Town of Renfrew and his memory will be preserved with the naming of a park within one of his many major projects.
A dedication ceremony for Mack Wilson Memorial Park, located at the corner of Elk Street and Eagle Avenue in the Hunter Gate subdivision, is set for Tuesday, June 25.
The late Renfrew developer built and managed hundreds of commercial and residential rental units, developed multiple subdivisions, supported local businesses, and served 25 years on the Industrial Commission.
Mack’s family is looking forward to seeing him honoured. His son Jim said Mack genuinely cared for people and was known for his incredible business resolve.
It was his dream to develop that area, said his son Jim, so having a park named in his honour within that subdivision is a fitting tribute. The family is grateful for the support of the town and the community.
Jim credited Derek McGrimmon who bought the business, for his continued success.
“He is another bright, shining star here that is really running some great businesses and taking them to the next level,” said Jim.
When Mack died in 2017 at the age of 79, he was still fully working, doing what he loved, said Jim.
He looks forward to catching up with officials and community members at the ceremony and reminiscing about his dad.
Jim figures his father would be pleased to see how things are going right now with his former business and family.
The dedication ceremony for Mack Wilson Memorial Park, at the corner of Elk Street and Eagle Avenue in Hunter Gate, will take place on Tuesday, June 25 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at the Wing at 2 p.m.
