Historical buildings with good bones are not being left to waste in Renfrew.
As first revealed at a recent Renfrew and Area Chamber of Commerce event, the town has found working partners to turn vacant space above the historic post office and the former McPhail and Perkins building into apartments.
Director of Development, Environment, and Infrastructure, Eric Withers, is excited by the possibilities.
He explains that repurposing historic buildings like these just takes someone with a little experience and vision.
Withers also notes that the move to repurpose important and historic local buildings into residences is similar to a trend seen in communities like Pembroke over the last few years.
Renovations are underway at both downtown locations, but Withers didn’t provide details on a timeline for completion.
