It’s hard to stop Renfrew’s Pat McGregor from going the distance for a good cause.
The 72-year-old aims to raise $7,200 for Renfrew Victoria Hospital with a half-marathon around the myFM Centre’s indoor track set to happen on August 17th.
McGregor has put her fondness for running to good use over the past few years, becoming a sparkplug for local fundraising through causes like Pat’s Head and Hearts Walk and Roll for Brain Cancer Canada.
Preparation for the 21.1-kilometre run around the track is already underway, and, while it will be a solo endeavour, Pat says people are welcome to join her for a few laps once things get going early that morning.
She says the entire journey is part of giving back to the fantastic medical personnel at RVH, who have provided her friends and family with exceptional care over the years.
The half-marathon will also provide Pat with a bit of closure, wrapping up what she calls “one of her crazy ideas” that began by accident years ago.
McGregor and Renfrew Victoria Hospital are working on an online donation platform for the half-marathon, which she hopes to share with the community soon.
