The Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its inaugural bursary program designed for graduating secondary school students across the region. This initiative aims to support the academic pursuits of deserving students by providing financial assistance of up to $250 towards the purchase of learning materials for their post-secondary studies.
Kelly Hollihan, Executive Director for the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce, shared details about the application process with myFM listeners. Aspiring candidates will be required to submit a short essay along with their application.
Hollihan emphasized the alignment of this bursary with the chamber’s strategic plan of nurturing the next generation of business leaders.
To qualify for the bursary, applicants must be residents of Renfrew County, slated to receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma in 2024, and either accepted or enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution. This encompasses Ontario accredited trade certifications and apprenticeships. Hollihan shed light on the source of funding for this bursary.
This bursary initiative underscores the chamber’s unwavering dedication to empowering local youth and fostering educational opportunities within the community. Prospective candidates can access the application form on the chamber’s website at upperottawavalleychamber.com/class-of-24-bursary-program/. The submission deadline is May 8, 2024.
